Download & Installation Instruction [VAIO Security Enhancement Program]

[Downloading Procedure]

・	We recommend you create a back-up by downloading the [VAIO Security Enhancement Program] onto a CD-R or floppy disk, etc.
・	Whenever you recover (re-set up) your VAIO by using the recovery CD, you need to run the [VAIO Security Enhancement Program] again.

Create a folder for storing the downloaded file on your VAIO hard disk.
(In this set of instructions we are presuming the folder for storing the download has been named [Update] and it has been created in the "C: drive" of the computer hard drive.)

Download the [VAIO Security Enhancement Program ] into the folder called [Update] you created earlier.

Double click the [SEC_Upd.exe] icon in the folder and a [SEC Update] dialog box will appear.

Find [C:\Update] which is displayed in the text box the [Archive Directory] then click on [OK]. A file will be automatically created in the [Archive folder].

[Updating Procedure]

When the above downloading procedure has been completed, please update the VAIO PC in the following way:

Shut down all software applications.

Click the [start] button at the lower left-hand side of the PC screen and click [Run…] menu.
A [Run] dialog box will appear.

Input [C:\Update\Setup.exe] into the [Name] text box on the display and click [OK].
The update procedure will begin. Please follow the instructions as they appear.

When the [Completion of InstallShield Wizard] dialog box appears on the screen, check the box and click [Complete]. In the case that the dialog, "Yes, Restart now" appears, check the box and click the [complete] button. The PC will automatically restart.

SOFTWARE LICENSE AGREEMENT
This License Agreement ("Agreement") is a legal agreement between you and Sony Corporation ("SONY") and provides the terms and conditions for your use of SONY's software program and its accompanying online documentation you may download from this web page (the "Software"). 1. Under this Agreement, SONY grants you a non-exclusive and non-transferable license, with no right to grant sub-licenses, to use the Software in Japan. 2. This Agreement allows you to use the Software for your personal use for a single personal computer product manufactured and sold under the trademark "SONY" ("SONY PC"). You may not reproduce, copy, distribute for commercial purpose, modify, reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the Software in whole or in part for any purpose whatsoever. 3. Except for the transfer of the Software together with SONY PC with a prior agreement of the recipient to be bound by the terms and conditions of this Agreement, you may not sell, rent or assign the Software and its copy to any third parties. You expressly acknowledge and agree that use of the Software is at your sole risk. You will defend and hold SONY harmless from and against all liabilities, demands, damages, costs, expenses, or losses arising out of disputes based on any third party claims that your use of the Software infringe the intellectual property rights, including but not limited to copyrights and patent rights, of such third party. 5. You will keep in confidence and, without prior approval of SONY, will not disclose or disseminate to any third party any information included in the Software. Your obligations set out herein shall not apply to any portion of such information that is already generally available to the public. 6. Without prejudice to any other rights SONY may have, your rights under this Agreement will terminate automatically if you fail to comply with the terms and conditions of this Agreement. In such event, you will destroy all the copies of the Software. 7. You hereby agree that any and all disputes that arise out of or relate in any way to this Agreement shall be resolved through good faith negotiations between the parties.
